Reopening preparations Part 3 — Screening procedures

As we move closer to Sarana’s re-opening, we have been sharing our new safety policies on this blog.

We posted about the importance of face masks and about physical distancing and shared surfaces, and now we’d like to briefly discuss our COVID19 screening procedures.

When you make an appointment with us, you will receive a confirmation email (if we have your correct email address), which will contain our health/symptom screening criteria.

You will be asked to cancel your appointment and not come in if:

IN THE 72 HRS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT YOU HAVE HAD:

  • fever
  • cough
  • sore throat
  • sinus congestion
  • sneezing
  • shortness of breath
  • sudden loss of smell/taste
  • unexplainable diarrhea
  • unexplainable nausea
  • unexplainable skin rash
  • contact closer than 6’ with anyone with above symptoms without wearing protective equipment

IN THE 2 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT YOU HAVE:

  • had COVID19
  • had close contact with anyone with COVID19 without wearing protective equipment
  • traveled outside the state

Please review review this list the day before your acupuncture session to verify that you can come in. ALL CLIENTS will be verbally screened before being allowed into the treatment area. Please be patient about being asked the same questions again, they will only take a minute.

We are not checking everyone’s temperature, but can check yours if you are not sure if you currently a fever.

All Sarana staff have been trained in safety procedures including hand hygiene, cleaning and disinfecting practices, physical distancing and low contact work methods. All our staff are complying with the recommended physical distancing guidelines in daily life and will self-screen for COVID-19 before coming to work each day. Staff who do not pass the screening will not be permitted to work and will self-quarantine until it is safe for them to return. Please be aware that this may cause last-minute clinic schedule changes.

If we learn of anyone at the clinic testing positive for COVID19, we will notify everyone who may have been exposed.

Due to current limitations of COVID-19 virus testing and contact tracing systems, and the possibility of asymptomatic carriers, determining who is infected with COVID-19 is exceptionally difficult. By deciding to receive treatment at Sarana Community Acupuncture you acknowledge that you understand that, even with preventative measures, some risk of COVID-19 transmission always exists in an indoor shared space.

Despite this, we feel confident that our new procedures, when consistently followed by all staff and clients, will keep Sarana safe for all.

Please stay tuned. We will announce our reopening date as soon as we have it!
