Sliding scale FAQs ⚡️Do I get more needles or more time if I pay more?
No. Good question. Everyone gets an individualized treatment tailored to their condition, and everyone gets the same amount of care and attention, regardless of what they pay on the scale. ⚡️Do I need to show you income verification?
NO. We will never ask you about your personal financial details. That’s none of our business, and besides, someone’s income is not necessarily a reflection of how much disposable cash they have. Debt, dependents, costly health issues and other personal matters play into it. When we say “You decide what you can afford “ we really mean that. ⚡️ Shouldn’t I try to pay in the middle of the scale?
We know that sliding scales are used in different ways in different situations and that sometimes there is pressure to pay in the middle of the scale, or to try to pay “the real worth” of the product or service. That’s not what we’re doing here. If your condition requires you to get treatment twice a week, then we’d much rather you pay on the low end of the scale and get the treatment you need than pay a higher amount and not get in as often. We could be the most skilled practitioners in the world, but if a patient can’t afford our rates, or can’t get enough treatment, then it doesn’t matter how skilled we are. Do you have any idea how good it feels when our patients get better? We do happy dances in the back room of the clinic. We high-five at staff meetings. Sarana is a Pali (ancient Buddhist) word for refuge. It can stand for retreat but also for the haven of supportive community. We chose this name to emphasize our intention for our clinic to be a safe space and acknowledging our shared humanity and interdependence.
